…. No one knows

Anybody else notice that the Giants are in nobody’s 2013 preview as champs? Ummm, excuse me, but the Giants are not only the defending champs, they have won it all two of the last three years.

Yay, the Dodgers spend a lot of money. What-

ever.

Let me make some predictions:

1. The Dodgers finish second in

the NL West
2. The Padres finish below .500
3. The Yankees fail to make the playoffs
4. The Giants make the playoffs, but lose in the NLCS

You cannot buy a championship. No matter how much money you spend. The Giants are poised to repeat, barring all of the complications that follow all teams as they try to repeat. Posey should be better this season.

So should Lincecum.

So should Belt.

Cain could be better.

Where is Gary Brown?

Regardless, the SF Giants are the preseason favorites to win it all in 2013.

  1. North Face has made a great lightweight North Face Denali Womens perfect for those cool fall days. The zip in functionality works great if you have a shell and want maximum cold protection. I love the zip up pockets and the little pocket things on the inside of the jacket, which is perfect for holding all my North Face Jackets For Women. So if you want a quality jacket that is durable and warm, this is the jacket for you word.http://www.womenstnf.com/

before the week is out, im expecting a major rant from john

scoots gets on base and unlike freddie, he doesnt break when he falls down…so while the giants gave him one year too many, they didnt overpay…he is very much like omar

will they repeat? nope…its almost impossible…but they will be fun to watch and have set themselves up to be a contender for the foreseeable future

and that is all we ever asked for

The Giants paid too much for Scutaro. While I would be delighted to see him continue to tear it up, his lifetime record makes me think that is unlikely.

Lots of hype about the Dodgers but they have yet to do anything. I believe the two teams in the World Series in 2012 spent considerably less on their players.

If Timmy returns to form the Giants will be a very strong team. It would be nice to get another right handed batter.

As long as the Giants finish ahead of the Dodgers, the season will be successful on a basic level. It’s odd that after 55 years as a Giants fan, that’s my criteria for success.

The Giants should be favored to win the whole thing again. t’s only the ongoing East Coast bias among sportswriters that keeps the Giants from being more highly regarded.

  6. Eric says:

I personally believe the Nationals will take the next step and win (at least the NLCS) in 2013, and I think they have a better chance of doing that than the Giants do. The Giants earned the right to be top dog going into the season, but I don’t think they can win two in a row, though they did just win two of three.

There are enough reasons to think this is what Lincecum is and will be going forward, but I think there is also reason for optimism. I’m split on him, I think his problems are in his head, so it could go either way.

It will be hard for Posey to replicate his 2012 (as it was phenomenal), but I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t at least come close to it. Maybe he’s even better as he grows into the peak of his ability. I don’t think it’s necessarily a given that he’s better, but it would not surprise me.

I’d be curious to see how Bumgarner comes back in 2013. Was he just getting tired at the end of the season or was there something else going on? Can Scutaro and Pagan replicate their success? I’m leaning towards no on Scutaro, as his career averages will probably bring him back to the player he has been rather than the scorching-hot player he was for a couple of months.

I’m with you on the Yankees. I don’t believe in them at all, and it has nothing to do with the Blue Jays. It has everything to do with their aging roster and paper-thin pitching.

But that’s why they play the games!
