That was one
of the most tedious and boring games I think I’ve ever watched. The amount of time between pitches, the constant men on base, the nu
mber of pitching changes, the hits, errors, lack of sharpness and clean play…. Jeez Louise, that was just brutal. Thank God they won, but man, what an ordeal that was to watch.
UPDATE: The Giants are currently the highest scoring road team in the NL. They are 21-8 on the road since the All Star game, including 10 of their last 12 road games. Ummm… I’m starting to think this team has a chance to contend for a title this year.
Oh, and by the way, Buster Posey has absolutely pushed his way into the lead for the MVP. Its time we started talking about it. We’re talking about a catcher, third overall in WAR, on his way to a
25 home run, 100 RBI season, for a team that is gonna finish with the second or third best record in the NL. All he’s done since the All Star Break is hit 11 home runs, drive in 46 men, and run out a .393/.471/.660 1.131 OPS line. That’s your fucking MVP.

Ryan Vogelsong’s record beginning with his 8/13 start against Washington: 29.2IP, 35ER, 11BB, 38SO. So, how on earth do you compile a 10.60 ERA while striking out more than three times as many batters as you walk??
On days like this, it’s good the 49ers are around to take the sting out of the Giants game…
i have never seen a pitcher with good stuff and control get hit like this….it defies logic
whats happening is that opposing teams are hitting every mistake and they are hitting good pitches
which leads me to believe that vogey is tipping
so what are opposing teams seeing that the giants are not
The Giant’s official website lists Sandoval’s weight at 240 lbs., but that was his reported weight after his off-season workout when they reported that he had dropped 40 pounds. The Panda is visibly heavier now than he was before that workout regimen. With two more years to go on his $17 million contract Sandoval is looking and playing like crap. I don’t expect him to slim down to Buster Posey size but it’s getting to the point where you might imagine him in a swimming pool being fed from a bucket of fish.
What I can’t imagine is the Giants signing a contract with Sandoval that didn’t include a clause about weight management. When Sandoval got into a confrontation with Arizona’s McDonald last week I thought Pablo was going to knock McDonald down with his belly. It’s embarrassing, and even Kruk and Kuip are having fun at his expense.
What I can imagine, and what I fully expect, is the Giants running his fat ass up and down some mountain in Arizona until he looks less like a beach ball and more like a ball player. He’s 26-years old for crying out loud, a very talented professional athlete being paid millions of dollars and he’s lost 150 points on his OPS. It’s unacceptable and there is no team in MLB where it would be acceptable.
Fully expect Bochy to bench Sandoval as he did in Sept / Oct of 2010.
Then as now – Can’t hit, Can’t field, Can’t run. Just fat and useless.
A complete liability at bat and afield with not even one average baseball skill.
Arias is the new Uribe.
“The Giant’s official website lists Sandoval’s weight at 240 lbs.”
Yeah, but what would Sandoval’s weight register if he put both feet on the scale?
Kudos to Giants for coming from 4 runs down for the second time in less than a month.
However, while it’s great to see Belt being productive, Posey having excellent season and Pagan producing, Bochy has to get Sandoval out of the lineup tonight. Horrible doesn’t even begin to describe his play in this series. 0-9 at the plate and fielding the ball like it’s a hand grenade. The hand injury appears to have taken a toll, as does the fact that he’s horribly out of shape.
Frankly, I would not be surprised if he gets traded during the offseason. He appears to pay no attention to conditioning– if anything, he looks fatter than he did two years ago.
And John is right about the pitching — with the exception of Matt Cain (good, not great), no one has looked very sharp on a consistent basis. BTW: One recent hero has been Casilla, who has bailed them out in 6th or 7th innings several times in recent weeks.
Yeah, well, I was gonna rip Casilla before he threw about seven amazing sliders tonight. Magic number is 13, and with all the bullshit this team has been through this season, that is utterly amazing. More tomorrow.
