      I’m not so naive to think that race has nothing to do with the matter, but don’t you think the fact that Barry Bonds was a huge jerk and took down the previously-sacred HR records has anything to do with it?

      I sense your comeback will be something along the lines of how McGwire didn’t take hardly any heat at all. McGwire at least (eventually) acknowledged he did some bad stuff. Bonds hasn’t and won’t, unless it benefits him in some way, such as with a book. He’s in it for himself and treated the fans’ access to him (the media) like trash, so of course they all wrote about him in a trashy manner, which means that’s just about all we know about him.

      People like Ryan Braun, he comes off as a nice guy, and doesn’t look like his head was about to pop. I’d hazard a guess, along with the fact that everybody could tell Bonds was on something and nobody seemed to know this bit about Braun, that’s a lot of why he gets nice treatment and Bonds didn’t/doesn’t.

      Thanks Marc. You get it. Most get it. Some do not. Its not to necessarily beat people up. Its to bring a different perspective to events, and the overall misdirection that accompanies “big” “powerful” “influential” institutions and the folks who control them.

      Like John if I can at least make somebody think and challenge and question their own beliefs, than I will have succeeded in sharing one of life’s great gifts…the power to listen intensely to others and learn from them. Most of the time we don’t do those things unless we’re being entertained or lost.

      I have never learned a damned thing talking and listening to myself except that I get bored really fast. I haven’t learned much from folks who just rephrase what passes for pop culture, media blather, and unimaginative trolling.

      John’s more patient and tolerant of that. I am up to a point. But as I wrote, there are those who wish to be purposely confrontative or obtuse. Those are simply the roadkill one encounters along the internet, that one just swerves around enroute.

      I think John put it all in perspective years ago. What super competitive person would not do everything in his or her power to take medications to be the best athlete they could be. What person who has to work for a living, given a choice between a raise and a demotion or worse would not take medication to stay on the job?
