    And we have Dick Tidrow to thank. Dick Tidrow from Mt. Dick Tidrow is an amazing evaluator of pitching talent. Larry Baer and Bill Neukom should bend over and kiss his feet for the magnificent job he has done in recruiting and drafting young awesome pitchers to the Giants organization.

    On the other hand we have Sabean to thank for Zito, Wellemeyer, Wright, Tomko, Morris, Armando, and other stellar gamer good soldier vets. He is also responsible for single-handedly sending David Aardsma, Jeremy Accardo, Francisco Liriano, Joe Nathan, Brad Penny and Kevin Correia down the road with not even a six-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon to show for it.

    So the next time some gullible KNBR/Comcast/Merc/Chronicle follower attempts to look fairminded and evenhanded so as to impress people he doesn’t know, with things he doesn’t know, and commences to bloviate about giving Sabean credit for this young pitching staff please feel free to call him a dumb motherfucking shitball who would be better off rooting for the Dodgers. Because the longer the Sabean defenders have credence the longer the Giants are going to not be playing meaningful games in October.

        DeRosa has the same injury that Jayson Werth had before he went to the Phillies. It took him a couple of years and he was a hell of a lot younger than Plan B Tommy. Thats why he is swinging the bat like it is a piece of linguine. That and the fact that he doesn’t have Matt Holliday and Albert Pujols in the lineup also means he isn’t seeing big fat juicy hanging cockshots, but actual real big league pitches no matter the count.

        Is it a surprise to anyone who can tell the difference between a baseball and a butt-plug that DeRosa is hitting about what he did with St. Louis last year which is why they cut him loose, along with Wellemeyer? The Cards aren’t in the habit of re-signing washed up players going so far as to rid themselves of Chris Duncan mid season last year, despite his old man.       The Nationals and Padres have had their little 7-3, 8-2 runs that everybody has during a 162 game season. Their runs have come in April before they fell 393 games out of post-season contention. It happens every year.

      On April 25th last year Toronto led the AL East at 13-6, Mariners were at 12-6 atop the AL West and the Rockies were at 5-11 under Clint Bochy Hurdle, last in the NL West. After game 162 Toronto was 75-87; 28 games out of 1st. Seattle finished at 85-77 12 games out. Colorado, well we all know what they did.

      I wish I could say I enjoy at least watching the pitching, but that is not what I see. What I see is some really talented pitching being shit upon by bad fat slow overpaid infielders and an outfield that for years has used flyswatters and golf clubs instead of you know, fucking bats.

        When Schierholtz came to bat I was praying for a hit. I knew that a hit would run Zito off the mound, and I was sure that Bochy would keep Zito in the scoreless game until something happened. (People are saying “the old Zito” is back; I am not convinced. The strike zone being called was gigantic.) Then, with Schierholtz on base, in scoring position in a scoreless game, Bochy went with Torres.

        With a runner in scoring position, in a scoreless game, Bochy went with Torres.
        You cannot emphasize that enough.

        Bochy had decided, at last, to stop making his big management error of leaving Zito in beyond the sixth, to committing another big management error of playing Torres – in a clutch hitting situation. He went from weakness to weakness…and it worked.

        Why? Why? Why oh you cruel baseball gods do you reward this craptologist? And nobody in the media questioned this move. NOBODY. Because it worked. But it was the lowest percentage chance Bochy could have gone with. If you were to stop the game right at that instant in time you could have found several better options; smarter options. So please let me take back my hastily stated “I am conflicted” and replace it with “I am appalled.”

        You say, rightly, that Neukom is the problem. But I have to say that in these close games Neukom isn’t calling the shots, Bochy is calling the shots. And I am convinced that Bochy is going to drive this borderline team into a ditch. He has to work very carefully to give the current assembly of what passes for talent a chance to succeed and he is not up to the job. Appalled. That is the word I was looking for.

      As he season progresses, I’m guessing we’ll have a pitcher someone will be slavering for. At a point when pitching will trade at a premium. Might be Cain, might be Wilson. might be someone. It all depends what we get in return, of course, but I really like being flush with pitchers.

        He let Penny go and signed Freddy Sanchez and Todd Wellemeyer for $7Million after Penny went 4-1 in September with an ERA+ of 170.

        He cast off Accardo for Shea Hillenbrand and Vinnie Chulk “making a playoff run”. Accardo promptly recorded 30 Saves for Toronto

        He dfa’d Kevin Corriea after the 08 season. San Diego picked him for nothing, and he promptly turned out to be their best pitcher with a 3.91 ERA. He is 3-1 this year with a 3.13 ERA and a WHIP of 1.13

        David Aardsma, a 1st round draft pick was traded to Chicago for LaTroy Hawkins in 2005 because in spite of being one of the worst teams in baseball, the Giants front office was convinced they were contenders. Aardsma is closing in Seattle, had 38 saves last year, while finishing off 53 of the Mariners games with a 2.53 ERA and an ERA+ of 172 (with a 100 being league average) In 2010 he leads the AL with 6 saves, a .90 WHIP.

        Sabean sent Tim Alderson and Scott Barnes to Pittsburgh and Cleveland last year for Freddy DL Sanchez and Ryan dfa Garko.

        What possible fucking reason does anybody have to believe that Sabean knows what he is doing when it comes to acquiring and hanging on to needed and contributory players, let alone getting a team to the post season.

        This team is not going to the post season and never will as long as Sabean is running things. The Giants aren’t even a complete ball club. They are a pitching staff and nothing else.

        They are not just mediocre on offense. They are not even below average. They are an embarrassment, if for no other reason they have been consistently and constantly horrible, below average, bush league, and as individuals they should be ashamed of themselves after 5 years of some of the worst offensive baseball in the history of the franchise.

        Bonds departure exposed Sabean for what knowledgable folks have been saying for year. He is incompetent.
