…. Bonds

What are you supposed to say? What’s the right blend of sarcasm and honesty? I don’t know.

I just know that Bonds got the ovation, the standing ovation, and, at least for a day, owned Pac Bell again. Good for him.

What do you guys think?

I forgot that that ceremony was taking place and hadn’t heard if barry was going or not. the next morning i was hungover reading the recap on espn.com and then the video started playing. I still was pretty out of it, but when I saw Barry walk out from behind left field, can’t even lie, i got choked up. It was awesome to see him wearing the orange and black for one more day

  2. Barry is The Greatest. The fans in SF know it. The rest of the baseball world is disconnected. They’d rather have Bruce Jenkins’ “fun” and “character” than an athlete who mastered his craft so completely that he terrified everyone, especially The Powers That Be. We were lucky–we got to see and enjoy BLB’s great career. Sadly, we got to see him get “Jack Johnson-ed” out of the game as well. Some day people will look back and appreciate Bonds, maybe in a decade or so. Barry was the pioneer in fitness and workouts and preparation for the sport. He was also the paragon of focused, disciplined concentration. He was truly a student of hitting and pitching, much like Ted Williams. His mastery of the mental game was so unlike every other ballplayer I think most watchers never “got it.” I’m glad he got a chance to step on the field and say his piece. He looked good, too, and handled the scene well. So, does he get a statue at PhoneCo?

You’re either a Bonds fan or not. There is no middle ground. I am a huge Bonds fan. Have boycotted the Gigantes and turned in my tickets because of the way the organization handled the situation. Bonds was great in the booth with Kruk and Kuip Saturday. Brought back many good memories…if only for a night.

Everyone made money on roids…whether you think it’s right or wrong…the owners condoned it…and supported it. It kept the stars performing…and the fans coming out in droves. Why not go after Selig? What a farce. Buddy Boy is the worst kind of individual…cashed in and sold everyone out. Pleading ignorance and turning a blind eye…I do not think the baseball public buys his story. Baseball ratings were never higher than the “roids years”. Everyone knows Bonds is the fall guy. Why no one has signed him is beyond belief. Don’t tell me the Yanks wouldn’t rather have Bonds than Sexon. Complete joke.

The Gigantes should be ashamed at the few reminders @ Pac Bell of Bonds….and the fans should hold the mgmt accountable for it.

Glad to see you’re still alive John.
