The only thing the Giants have going for them so far this year .... Eugenio Velez !!!

I really need someone to write an article how the pathetic Giants and their Tom Selick (with out the Mustache) look-alike coach - who did a rather shitty job with the Padres - are getting younger? I am totally and completely confused with Sabean's comments on March 25th regarding how he "may open the door" for Velez. Really? WTF? What else could someone like Velez need to do to make the old and overpaid lineup? Play second base? Are you fucking kidding me now? Let's do this instead .... play an old, OVERPAID, no rage second basemen like Durham ... WTF? Watch ing Durham field is like watching David Eckstein trying to throw out a runner at first .... something my left handed sister could do better ... so while we sit at home and watch the soon to be worst season in SF history ... Sabean continues to gain weight and speak about his "veteran" presence in the clubhouse ..... maybe if we are lucky ... Sabean could go out and get Gonzo and bring back Finley because I'm sure he thinks we could always use another outfielder ........ if Velez isn't starting this year ... I'm going to have to start watching the A's and their gay-ass white shoes .... Thanks.

There's an article in the Chron about it.

Ultimately AT&T is another Wrigley Field. The Cubs never bothered to win games until recently and the Giants can do the same thing.

There were 8,000 hardcore fans from Candlestick and 5,000 more who would go several times a year. But the wine and cheese crowd didn't. But now that's who's buying all the tickets. Two-thirds of the current crowds would cheer their hearts out to see an opposing player reach a milestone against the Giants.

There simply isn't much incentive to get better. Sabean and Baer can continue to talk about needing to improve but they don't have to. Casual fans buy tickets and cable tv pays the bills.

Ultimately San Francisco doesn't really care.

Hey, I thought of another way to make things more fun for Giants fans this season... instead of stringing up rubber chickens, we could string up a K for every time one of OUR players strikes out. I wonder how many times we'd go back and forth across the outfield wall over the course of a season. It'd be F-ing hilarious!

Prediction: The Giants have a HORRIBLE first few weeks and are embarrassingly bad, and they end up signing Bonds. How funny would that be? I don't think it's far fetched...

So if you had to guess, SF Giants in 2008: over or under 100 losses?

I think the Giants should go after Matt Murton. According to baseball musings he's been designated for assignment (I think) with the Cubs.

Career .800+OPS righthanded OF'er.

He's cheap, young and has potential. He probably won't be a superstar, but he could be a good solid player.

Of course one Cub fan has a slightly different opinion...

Here's something that puzzles me. I feel the same way as everyone else who is expressing his opinion here: the team looks awful, they are boring, I'm losing interest, etc. Yet I have read that season ticket sales are not much behind what they were last year. How is that possible? I expected that with the chase for #756 behind us + a team that is so obviously pathetic that even casual fans would notice, that tickets sales would plunge.

Sadly, I supported the Randy Winn signing because I saw our future: Randy Winn, the Giants best hitter.

I'm leaning towards just switching the players on hte Fresno roster with those on the big club. We can keep Cain & Lincecum, and Merkin because he has a funny name.

The mediocrity we're looking forward to is just so boring... I would so much rather have the 25 best potential upside guys and let them play, I don't care if they're 18 and in A ball. Make a list from Baseball America or somewhere, least then we can root for the little guy....I like Molina, but my god, he's the cleanup hitter. It's just not interesting, we all know how the season will play out already, and I'm just not looking forward to my greatest interest being whether Randy Winn will hit .300 or not. Frandsen going down has even pierced my well-cultivated state of denial. Let some dude a year out of high school steal 80 bases and get picked off 90 times.... at least it'll be interesting. Let the guy pitch who'll strike out 15 looking and walk 20 by throwing the ball into the dugout.

All SF needs to do is have the bus forget to pick up all the "veterans" at the hotel one day... it's not so hard. Jesus, this team has less character than the 62 Mets.

I was just thinking that the Giants should sign Bonds again. CJ, I'm with you though. It's painful for me to admit, but I'm beginning to lose interest in the Giants. Watching the franchise go down in flames and management and ownership lick their chops at the money they're making sickens me. These bozos are lost. Not only have they taken this current path by choice, but they've do so without alternatives and with so little depth that if someone gets hurt, there is nobody to replace him. I laugh because I'm just a big baseball fan and I (and many others) been writing here for YEARS that the franchise is not restocking itself to prepare for our exact situation right now. So, in one off-season we're going to lose guys like Bonds and Feliz without any alternatives and then we're going to be forced to keep guys like Durham because we don't have any alternative and then we're going to expect Vizquel to stay healthy because, well, because we don't have any real alternatives for him either, etc. Oh wait, and then we sign Barry Zito to replace our Bonds hero-worship...and Zito's just Jarrod Washburn, but more photogenic.

It's baseball with our fingers crossed.
