and they replayed his appearance on mahr tonite

the entire show was like watching 4 asshats, and i include mahr

“overwehlming evidence”…..a book??? when the fuck did a book become evidence?

if i had a time machine, i woulda gone back and slapped that stupid midget

and dont get me started on the other asshats on the panel….jonah goldberg is king of the asshats….bush isnt corrupt??? what the fuck was going on in the justice dept for the past 7 years?

Costas, a man of rather ordinary intelligence, hair dye, and botux, is a chronic abuser of a performance enhanced vocabulary. This is symptomatic of individuals who spend an inordinate amount of time practicing mouth-to-mouth on Porta-potty vent-stacks. Hence the nome du plume: Ass-Breath. Ergo, one can draw the conclusion John, that debating Mr. Costas is akin to debating a Penis that smells like ass.

The biggest problem I see is that Costas doesn’t understand the difference between a blogger and the average joe sports fan who votes on a ESPN poll or comments in the comments section of an article. He’s lumping those two groups together.

I used to like Costas, but then again, I used to think Joe Morgan was an insightful commentator. Everything changes.

I’m constantly amazed by the high quality of work done by the “bloggers and their ilk.” This site, Grant at McChronic, Lefty Malo, the gang at MVN’s Giants Cove, I could go on but those are just the GIANTS-themed sites. There is so much good stuff at Hardball Times, Bugs & Cranks, MLB Trade Rumors, etc. etc. I can hardly keep up! It is sad that a guy as smart and accomplished as Costas is so bloody fookin’ biased. Good sports reporting and analysis is found on the web, not the sports pages or the squawking box. Dave Zirin, Cosellout, Starting Five . . . where in SI or ESPN or any newspaper will you find that kind of outlook? The best thing about bloggers and net-izens is exactly what Costas and his ilk are afraid of–unfettered thought. We get so much filtered, sanitized, patronizing bullshit that we have to dive into the anarchy of cyberspace just to have a decent conversation.

Costas has it right — how dare ordinary fans actually express their opinions or try to get involved in baseball discussions?! Better leave this to cranky old media farts who appreciate the game in all its purity.

The funny thing is that if you watch ESPN’s daytime programming, it largely consists of members of the mainstream media doing exactly what Costas is critisizing — screaming at each other and competing to get off the most snarky comment. It’s hard to see how allowing participation by the “pathetic get-a-life losers” in the general public can make things worse…

Little man, big ego. He rose to fame as a guy who talked like he was nice and who loved baseball. Good for him. Many of us have those same qualities. The Internets (sic) have a lot of idiots, but there’s also a tremendous amount of valuable dialog; hell, even the idiots are a barometer of something. Bob’s just upset that his words are now criticized more often and his game is out-of-date.
