John, I was referring to the initial list you posted by Jay T. You actually put the ESPN list up as I was typing my first email. I'm glad you took his list off - but my point was not to put up any list unless you had searched the report yourself. This issue is too important not to tarr someone's reputation with checking the facts yourself beforehand (or a least wait until the AP or ESPN had searched the report and put together a list, although they also have been wrong on stories). With all that said, I do enjoy your site.

Julian,

Not sure what you mean. Garciaparra's not on my list, neither is Albert Belle or Prior or Bichette. My list is posted as from ESPN, and I will do my own review of the PDF as soon as I can. In the meantime, I felt it was important for my readers to have as much of the fast-breaking info as possible.

As far as accuracy goes, I'm doing my best.

The list is bullshit. Why? Well for one, it only lists players who have already been linked to steroids over the past 3 years after the guys who leaked these names were caught for their involvements with steroid distribution. There is a bunch of names people have mentioned in the comments above, and many more I myself could name that were probably obvious users over the past 10-15 years. The problem I think is this report is pretty much only exclusive to interviewing the select few people who were arrested for steroid distribution. I'm sure a lot of players have acquired roids and other PED's from much lower key sources, like say during winter ball in Mexico or Dominican leagues. There were entire teams that had obvious steroid users and not a mentioning of anyone on the 93 Phillies other then Lenny Dykstra. Same with the 2001 Dbacks, the only guys listed are Alex Cabrera and Matt Williams. Where is Jay Bell? Or Erubiel Durazo? Or Danny Bautista? Or LUIS GONZALEZ? This report is a joke. And I'm not really sure how it will help baseball much other then again show that there was an obvious steroid problem in the game and that everyone did nothing to stop it.

But at least Clemens was mentioned. I was so tired of the media licking his nutsack while they would bark at the heels of Bonds. What a bunch of hypocrites. How wonderful that Clemens career resurgence (after he was considered washed up by Red Sox GM Dan Duquette) with Toronto directly coincided with him meeting up with the trainer who supplied him roids all these years. Awesome. But I'm sure he'll receive almost no heat for this and idiot fans will still pretend like Bonds was the only guy who ever did anything wrong, purely because the media will keep piling on Barry "because he chased records".

Good job on the update, but still a disservice posting information that's not accurate to begin with, especially on a subject such as this.

I've searched the pdf, no Garciaparra on the list (other than as a footnote dealing with a trade), no Brett Boone, no Johnny Damon, no Pudge, no Bichette, no Prior, no Albert Belle, etc. This "list" is pretty shoddy work even for the internet, especially when a person's reputation is at stake. Only BBM should have more integrity not to post information on such a inflammatory topic without checking it out themselves beforehand.

In the updated version I believe in fact that Albert Pujols is not on the list, and I don't believe Jason Varitek or Johnny Damon are either. However, you can add Paul LoDuca, Kevin Brown, Benito Santiago, David Justice and Mo Vaughn.

And yes, Roger Clemens remained on there. Big shocker.
