…. Superstar
The man who put together Baseball-Reference.com, Sean Forman, has just come out with a new toy; minors.baseball-reference.com.
First, hat-tip to Rich Lederer for the news.
Second, I will be spending a lot of time there, digging into possible trade prospects that I think the Giants should pursue. If you’re gonna want to stay in the conversation here at OBM, you’d better get busy.
I can’t imagine how this new tool won’t be a mega-hit. Kudos to Sean, who has to be in line for another All Star appearance.

Great site! It was very useful for me today.
I was looking at the baseball scoreboard and saw the 11-10 score by the Twins and White Sox. I looked at the box score, and I saw a familiar name B. Buscher.
I remember the Giants drafted a Brian Buscher a few years back, 3rd round in the 2003 draft. He wasn’t projected to be a Scott Rolen-type, but a solid 3B of the future.
It turns out this is the same Brian Buscher who hit well in the low minors but then stalled in Double-A last year and gone this year. In his first season with the Twins, he was sent to their Double-A affiliate where he hit over .300, then moved up to Triple-A where he hit just as well, now he’s playing 3B for the Twins.

Notice how he’s never hit more than 7 HRs in any season with the Giants, but has hit 14 minor league HRs before his callup this season. It’s like he’s a completely different hitter, consistently hitting well with more power. How did that happen?
Anyway, thanks for the site. It helped me find another player the Twins stole from our idiot GM who hasn’t a clue how to develop players.
