And the hits just keep on coming.

Let me just say, the unseemly ESPN coverage, what with the instant call-ins from different sportswriters and media jackoffs telling us how horrible it is, how tainted it is, how fans are disappointed…. What a joke. I will never link to Lupica again, regardless of what he writes about.

The fans have let us know what they think. They cheered. They would have cheered more if the sports media hadn’t spent the last four years telling them they shouldn’t.

By the way, here’s what dignity and class sound like:

“I would like to offer my congratulations to Barry Bonds on becoming baseball’s career home run leader. It is a great accomplishment which required skill, longevity and determination.

Throughout the past century, the home run has held a special place in baseball, and I have been privileged to hold this record for 33 of those years. I move over now and offer my best wishes to Barry and his family on this historic achievement.

My hope today, as it was on that April evening in 1974, is that the achievement of this record will inspire others to chase their own dreams.”

I would’ve enjoyed the Day After 756 much more had I not logged on to the internet, read a newspaper or turned on the TV before game time.

There is some serious, venomous hate out there for Bonds; it’s almost worse than I thought. Yeah, ok, he’s arrogant. But worse than Terrell Owens arrogant? Trouble with the law? He’s not killing dogs for crissakes. And in a country doped to the gills on prozac and saturated in Budweiser they’re outraged by drug use?

The hypocrisy is staggering.

I just don’t get the hate. It’s supposed to be a game; it’s supposed to be fun.

The total stands at 757 and counting already and he’s looked good at the plate two nights in a row. Maybe he’ll get on just one more of those patented Bonds rolls to close out the year.

It would sure be fun to try and see Lupica, Marriotti and Costas struggling to explain it to us.

The hatred for Bonds is mostly a product of the media. We all saw the reception he got in SD for 755, some boo’s an overwhelming majority of people gave him a nice ovation despite how some angry journalists tried to portray it. And this is SD, where they have every reason to hate Bonds (being a conference rival and the team he’s hit the most home runs against). Let Costas, Mariotti and the other idiot journalists cry about it while showing their lack of journalistic integrity in their attacks on Bonds, I don’t care. I was at AT&T for 757, and it was special. Oh, and a win for Cain was nice – he deserved it.

The media coverage of Barry Bonds is nothing less than prolonged and venomous character assassination. Bonds has alienated the media throughout the course of his career and the media is responding with malicious and unrelenting hatred. It is sickening. One might expect this sort of sensational hate mongering from the tabloid poperattzi but this sort of thing coming from the “main stream” media is sickening.

I dont get why people are surprised. The media has worked like this sense its creation. Stop calling it media and call it what it is propaganda and then it all makes sense. I will say it is more obvious now cause you cant get away from it in todays world.

Sports News and Resources…

Sorry, it just sounds like a crazy idea for me :)
