The NY Yankees have apparently agreed in principle to a trade with the Texas Rangers that would bring the reiging AL MVP Alex Rodriguez to NY for Alfonso Soriano, according to this AP report.

The deal would require A-Rod to move to third, according to sources, with Derek Jeter remaining at short. As I have stated before, Jeter is the one who should move to third, and with the Yanks landing A-Rod, the best defensive shortstop in the AL (a range factor above 5.0, while Jeter cannot make 4 plays per game), I cannot imagine how stupid Torre & company would have to be to not realize that.
